I'M SHOCKED!
It was midnight and I'm just having my dinner - supermorning dinner - when the newest Netflix film "Alter Me", directed by RC Delos Reyes, suddenly popped-up on my phone screen. And yes, being an Enchong superfan, I instantly clicked and started the whole thing. I have my own expectations of what possibly will happen but the first 3 minutes just sold me out! Believe me, I need to pause to somehow absorb everything. Napa-tweet ako bigla... FOR RELEASE! š
But more than the skin, the whip cream and exposure of some things, anything that happened within the first 5 minutes of the film is just a preview of what will unravel. It must have given us the adrenaline rush but the story will pull us over to keep us interested and wanting for more from a woman who has lost her track and finding a way to reconnect to the real world by being in the alter world and a man who is looking for real love in the alter world that he can bring to the real world. Like the characters, the two worlds collide.
My most favorite part of the film were the riverside moments. Jasmine Curtis was so subtle yet wretched. Aimee opening up to Uno, all her pains, the hurt of her past came across the screen. It was traumatizing and heartbreaking. Pasimpleng ginalingan. While Enchong Dee's moment at the riverside was on a different level. Nakakaputangina! Watching Uno lost it was unbearable. The pain was excruciating. It was sad... deep. It was a great moment of unendurable misery. And I'm saying this without any bias at all. Sobrang husay!
Must admit though that I am having doubts flexing the ending. But then yes, this is the ending that Uno deserves. Siya naman ang habulin noh. Well, I'd like to think that Aimee came after him. Imagine, you're someone who did everything to help the person build herself up again, pull her over to see how beautiful the world is again, and you end up being crashed by the same person. Masakit ah.
Even so, I loved the fact the Uno did not deny himself of that moment to feel that pain. He let his emotions flow - in the real world. He finally learned how to love that one person that for the longest time he had been missing to give the love that the person deserves - himself.
Sa pagmamahal pa rin kumapit. #SelfLove
